Part 2

There is also a Junior trophy to be had at the Inter-Ex, not only for youngster but also for special achievements for the juniors. This year it went to a youngster, Jasper Smit, for his multi-wing sail place Vise Versa, that can be flown forwards as well as backwards. The prize was given to his grandmother as Jasper wasn’t there for the presentation.
RC-Network e.V. donated a trophy too, the RCN Pokal, for the best online project of the past year. Last year the prize went to an Arado 555 too, but this years Arado is of such a gigantic size that the models by Raimund Sonst or Josef Poisinger look tiny in comparison. Completely made out of Depron with a take-off weight of 7.5 kgs, this model impressed with its slow-flight capabilities. Claus-Peter Fisher from Berlin couldn’t have built this plane without the internet discussions. The 10-wheel landing gear makes the plane look even bigger.
We come for the trophy for the best flight. There were several candidates for this prize and decision was really close. In the end Eddi Eiblmair from Euskirchen came first with his Lockheed SR-71 “Blackbird”, which was a real show, a myth from the eighties getting airborne.
The trophy for the best model went to Peter Haas from Berlin. He equipped a tetraeder-kite by pioneer Bell with electric motor and rudders. This vertical triangle gives a completely different flight appearance.
